    The Thermals play a thermodynamic five-song set in the lobby for 5 at 5, presented by Ace Hotel, Martin Guitar and Bowery Presents.

    The Thermals are a post-pop-punk trio from pre-Portlandia Portland, Oregon. They've released some cool records on the classic Northwest labels Sub Pop and Kill Rock Stars. Their newest, soon-to-be-released sixth LP, Desperate Ground, was produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth) in Hoboken. They finished the record just hours before Sandy touched down, so the record may be blessed or just lucky depending on interpretation. Desperate Ground is a scrappy and scratchy return to form for The Thermals, with all the unhinged adolescent energy that made their early LP’s so much fun.
    5 At 5 is an ongoing series of intimate, free live performances by touring bands in the lobby of Ace Hotel New York.
