Calling All Kids is a weekly live music showcase at the Hyperion tavern in Silver Lake championed by incurable beat heads Matthewdavid and Sodapop -- a favorite among beat-centric Angelenos and winner of an illustrious LA Weekly's Best of Award. They're coming back to the desert to present a weekend of good sound with friends Low Limit and Grimes.

Leaving Records founder Matthewdavid scours the universe for aural snippets he can work into warm washes of psychotropic sound. He's made a name for himself among the sound technicians of the LA experimental music scene at Dublab, Poo-Bah, Low End Theory and Brainfeeder.
Grimes, hailing from Vancouver, developed her musical style at the forefront of Montreal's underground DIY loft culture as one of the originators of the witch-house and lo-fi R&b sounds. Her latest release, Visions incorporates influences as wide as Enya, TLC and Aphex Twin, and draws from genres like new jack swing, IDM, new age, k-pop, industrial and glitch. She's touring Canada on the Full Flex Express tour with Diplo and Skrillex in July.
Sodapop is the architect and sound selector behind Anticon Records, another hub of creative activity on LA's independent electronic music scene. He's played alongside luminaries like Flying Lotus, Baths, Gold Panda, Kingdom, WHY? and Nosaj Thing.
D33J released his Tide Songs EP on Wedidit Collective last year, to near instantaneous acclaim by people on hallucinogens and devotees of consciousness-altering sound, weaving gauzy layers of off-kilter drums, white noise, droning keys and Gucci Mane saying the word "lemon."
If Low Limit is barreling down a musical highway in a conversion van, it's one without yellow lines, speed limits or restrictions on style, influence or expression. One half of Lazer Sword, he's shared the stage with acts like Kode 9, Hudson Mohawke, Actress, Rustie, Machinedrum, Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Mt. Kimbie and Nosaj.
