Dirty Mittens first formed in 2006, and over the next five years, they only managed to have a self-released EP. Prolific is perhaps not the first adjective that springs to mind.

But that's not to say they haven't been busy. Their debut full-length album, Heart of Town, has been almost two years in the making. Holed up in an abandoned Masonic temple with proucer Jim Brunberg and a rotating cast of Portland's finest musicians (Laura Gibson, Matt Sheehy, Steve Berlin of Los Lobos and Dave Jorgensen of Blind Pilot to name a few), the band has lovingly crafted an album that is poppy and tuneful, yet layered and sonically serious. And if you listen carefully, you can hear the corners of the space, the creaking floors and rotting ceiling. 

Los Buques is a literal family band (comprised of two brothers and their sister) originally from Joshua Tree, California. After making their way into the low desert of Palm Springs, each sibling reached out to other musicians to start bands. After much trial and error, they came full circle and found creative solace in each other.
