We're celebrating the revolutionary Charles and Ray Eames, the design team behind some of the most iconic symbols of mid-century modern, with Eames Demetrios -- filmmaker and grandson of the Eames' -- presenting a series of short films about the philosophy and work of the most influential couple in the world of modern furniture design and architecture.
The film retrospective will feature works by the Eames' including Design Q+A and SX-70, a tutorial on the classic Polaroid model and meditation on the art of photography. We'll also screen Eames Demetrios' 901 -- after 45 years of work and play, the film is a document of the Eames' long-time studio in Venice, California and a record of its final days. This film is followed with a Q+A by the director.
Eames Demetrios is a filmmaker and the principal of the Eames Office, preserving his family's work and legacy. He also curates the Design, Architecture and Sustainability Film Festival, and is the creator of the Kcymaerxthaere, a project that overlays an alternative history onto the physical world.
