    Every first Friday, DJ Sodality spins rad music with the occasional special guest for T.V.O.D, a party unlike any other in the desert. Keep an eye out here for new special guests and touring bands.

    This month, Sodality welcomes the psychedelic LA noir of VUM.

    VUM -- the duo of Jennifer Pearl and Christopher Badger -- braid disparate notes into a slyly minimal psychedelia that continues to unfold in layers on multiple listens. Their approach yields an expansive sound fraught with intangibles like the Angeleno sun's porous glow -- downy webs of synth traipse over plodding drum machines laced through with Pearl's reminiscent-of-surf guitar and solemn vocals. Their debut record, Night Sun, was recorded in West Coast canyons and South Pacific jungles -- and like those landscapes it teems with a life-heavy potency of its own.
