Friends of the Smell presents High Places live in the Amigo Room.
High Places is Rob Barber and Mary Pearson. Their third album, Original Colors, is dotted with sun-drenched references to Australian flora, Mexican desert and the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Visual art plays an important role in a High Places show. The duo make video projections for their stage shows and keep a photo blog that documents their travels, creating a multi-sensory experience.
Friends of The Smell, curated by Dean Spunt of No Age, sends friends of the legendary downtown LA DIY venue that helped launch acts like Mika Miko, Abe Vigoda, Foot Village, The Mae Shi and HEALTH out to the desert every couple weeks or so to spread some of that Angeleno can-do around. January's special guests are Skin Town, DJ Kim Free and DJ Mike Vidal.
The Smell is a community-oriented, not-for-profit, volunteer-run music space in downtown LA, open to people of all ages who are interested in participating in and supporting an environment of creativity and artistic innovation and freedom.
