JP Houston hosts a launch party for his new weekly podcast from the Amigo Room, the American Parlor Song Book. It's sort of like a Prairie Home Companion only weirder and not on a prairie — pretty companionable though.
JP Houston is the piano man for The Sunday Band at Pappy and Harriet's. He's also the mastermind behind the theme song for the Big Comfy Couch and the music of Ruffus the Dog and the producer of the acclaimed debut album by The Nymphets. He's like a musty encyclopedia set about American music — a guy who can disassemble an old Buick of a tune and methodically retool the loose harmonies strewn across the driveway into an aural Volt with that fresh music smell.
His American Parlor Songbook live podcast series in the Amigo Room features guest performances, songs, stories, comedy and surprises. JP's guests at the inaugural American Parlor Songbook are Jesika von Rabbit of Gram Rabbit, singer-songwriters Jordie Lane and Clare Reynolds, The Laughing Yogi (viral video) and Robbie Waldman of Waxy and War Drum.
