Ace Hotel and Swim Club
Built on the foundation of a 1965 Howard Johnson hotel, Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs maintains functionality and simplicity without sacrificing the Ace aesthetic. Much of the property is an outgrowth of the original five-building structure, from the old Denny's restaurant -- now King's Highway and the Amigo Room -- to the rare, deep pool. Just south of downtown and close to the mountains, the location allows easy access to everything.
King's Highway restaurant redefines roadside diner fare as part of an American peasant food tradition. We try to use local, seasonal and organic ingredients and sustainably-raised meats wherever we can. The Amigo Room bar serves classic and creative artisanal cocktails using fresh juices and house-made mixers.
The Swim Club includes a pool, a hot tub, a spa, a gym, massage yurts, plenty of hammocks and a stargazing deck. You can lounge by the pool with a boozey sno cone from the Short Bus bar, or in one of the many comfortable hammocks that line the pool area. At the Feel Good Spa, you can get an outdoor hot stone massage or a natural botanical facial.
The guest rooms surround the Swim Club area. Some have private patios and fireplaces or gardens, and some have turntables and retro vinyl. Much of the furniture is vintage. Draped fabric on the walls creates an indoor-outdoor, luxury camping feeling. There are simple rooms for smaller budgets, and larger suites that are more luxurious.
We have been called a boutique hotel. We're not sure what that is. We just love doing things our own way, and creating a neat experience based on a sense of place.
