Oregon Mushroom Stories and PICA Present The Mush Fair : Portland Events Calendar

  • Oregon Mushroom Stories and PICA Present The Mush Fair

    Dec 2 12:00PM // The Cleaners

Oregon Mushroom Stories and PICA host The Mush Fair, a series of fungi-focused events in The Cleaners.

With How Mushrooms Grow, artist collective Belly & Bones (Stef Choi and Tony Candelaria) create an interactive zoetrope sculpture that presents a fungi life cycle, from mycelia to mushroom. This larger-than-life zoetrope (four feet in diameter) presents a sequence of sculptures that sprout into mushrooms before your eyes.

Sunday afternoon, alongside the zoetrope exhibit, there's an afternoon fungiphile fair where you can scoop a mushroom growing kit, wild and cultivated mushrooms, make spore prints and sample mushroom, mold and yeast treats.

    Schedule:

    Sunday
    Noon-10pm: How Mushrooms Grow
    2-6pm: Mushroom Fair

    Monday
    Noon-8pm: How Mushrooms Grow

Admission is free and open to all.

Oregon Mushroom Stories, a project of Ecotrust and Edible Portland, brings the surreal, fantastical beauty of mushrooms, and the knowledge of growers, foragers and fanatics out of the dark to a broad audience.
