“They stumbled on an old motel in Palm Springs and began to make up stories of its past: how a dusty, cowboy trading post was reclaimed in the 50’s by earnest, art-weened socialites only to have their modern enclave taken over by their wayward bohemian heirs, Talitha Getty, a mariachi band, some Tibetan monks and the entire cast and crew of Easy Rider. We liked the stories and we liked the motel and since we make hotels, we decided to make this like the story.”
